According to the Iceland Met Office Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano has become more active with signs of "ongoing magma movement".

The risk level to aviation has been raised to orange, whcih is the second-highest level.

The Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted in 2010, producing an ash cloud that severely disrupted airspace across Europe.

The Bardarbunga volcanic system is in the north-west region of Iceland's Vatnajokull glacier.
