Our Managing Director Given Prestigious Event Industry Award

The prestigious Eventia Awards Dinner was held at the London Hilton Park Lane on Friday 18th November, attended by over 700 people from across the events industry. Every year a special award is made by Eventia to an individual judged to have made an outstanding contribution to the events industry. In announcing Brian as the winner of the award, Eventia Chairman Rob Allen said:
"This year there were several candidates ... but one very clear winner.
- This person has worked in the events industry for a long time and has given many years of tireless service to Eventia.
- Pretty much everyone in this room has benefited directly or indirectly from the work this individual has done.
- Our winner has championed the difficult but important matters of regulation and become one of the key interpreters of technical and complex issues in the events market.
- He .....has transformed Eventia's Regulation Committee from being perceived as a dull, backroom entity which, frankly, few people wanted to join ... into a vital and dynamic team which plays a leading role in the industry; a team which addresses big issues head-on, liaises with other bodies and advises government.
- At a time when legislation, regulation and government consultation are having a major effect on our industry, this is man you want on your side. This is the man you want on my team"
Responding to the award Brian said:
"I am touched and honoured to have been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2011 Eventia Awards.
What is particularly heartwarming is that this award is given by my peers - those I have the pleasure to work with in Eventia. I am extremely grateful to have the work of Regulation Committee recognised in this way, so in a sense it is also an award for all those who have worked on regulation in the past, and those who continue to do so. The work goes on!"
